About the event
We are excited to announce our new Yin & Reiki Series, The Five Elements.
What is the Five Elements?
The Five Elements are a theory that has been part of Traditional Chinese Medicine for centuries. The Five Elements, were selected by the sages to describe patterns and relationships between many variables. It is a Theory that explains how we are influenced by the world and weather around us, and how the organs of the body interact with each other. Each element has a certain pair of body organs, a colour, a taste, an emotion, a season of the year and symptoms/disease states.
The Five Elements Theory is a representation of how Qi moves throughout the body in. Chi is the foundation of all life, the vital force behind all creation.
Chi is everything in the universe, organic and inorganic is composed of and defined by its Qi. Chinese thought does not easily distinguish between matter and energy but we can think of chi as matter on the verge of becoming energy and energy at the point of materializing. - Ted Kaptchuck
When Qi is traveling freely the 5 elements are said to be in balance, as Qi needs to be moving constantly for optimum health. But imbalances between the phases of Water, Wood, Fire, Earth and Metal and their corresponding energetic channels (meridians) can cause the Qi to stagnate, or become deficient or weak.
In our first installments of the series will be looking at the element 'Wood"
In Chinese five elements theory, the wood element governs the liver organ-meridian system and that of its partner organ the gallbladder. The Wood Element describes a period of flourishing and growth. It is the Element of Spring and new life, being filled with vigour and vitality. The movement of energy at this time is outwards. It is a time full of promise, making plans and looking forward. Wood propels us forward into adventure and the unknown with vision and drive.
Reiki Practitioner Emma Sinclair and Yoga Teacher Ellie Johns will be joining forces to bring you this incredibly relaxing and healing Yin & Reiki Series. Indulge in this 2 hour Yin and Reiki masterclass where you will be guided by the relaxing sounds of Ellie's soothing voice, with long-held yin poses and meditative sounds. Emma will be spending time with each person in the room, providing reiki healing energy throughout the class.
What is Yin?
Yin Yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga incorporating principles of traditional Chinese medicine. A true practice in unwinding and letting go. Yin yoga is a passive practice in that you work to relax all of the muscles and stretch the ligaments, tendons and fascia, which will result in a longer resting length of your connective tissue. In this class, we will move through some slow, long-held, floor-based postures - using bolsters blankets and blocks to ensure you feel supported and relaxed.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is an energy healing treatment that works holistically; on the whole body, mind and spirit. Reiki is a treatment whereas natural healing vibrations are transmitted through the hands of a Reiki practitioner to the body of the recipient. The purpose of a Reiki treatment is to relieve stress and pain, induce relaxation, release emotional blockages, accelerate natural healing, balance subtle bodies energies and support other medical modalities including traditional therapies. Emma will channel the Reiki energy through her hands and direct it to students where she feels it is needed.
This beautiful evening will be held at our cosy & intimate studio from 6:30pm - 8:30pm on Friday, 14th January 2022.
